Etymology

From earlier *ana +‎ *-odak, from Proto-Finno-Permic *ana, akin to Erzya анамс (anams, to want, ask, beg) and Moksha анамс (anams, to want, ask, beg). Proto-Samic *ānōtēk is possibly an early loan from Finnic.
