Well, semantically I could see a relation between 'enclose' and 'desire', as one usually walks around and inspects a desired thing, and sometimes tries to protect it for oneself by patrolling around it. The connection between these two meaning and 'intestine' is probably obvious enough, though I do prefer the reconstruction with a final laryngeal for that - since *h1 would make the Greek form with root-final *d easier to explain.
