Reconstruction talk:Proto-Slavic/otъ

Latest comment: 2 years ago by Zezen in topic I have added father

Voicing of the final consonant was probably due to assimilation in word sandhi. Once the jers were lost, it became so prevalent that it was taken as the "normal" form, with ot only preserved in old derivations. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 15:49, 13 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

The final *t is more likely to have been replaced with *d by analogy with *nadъ, *perdъ, *podъ, *vъslědъ, etc. --124.148.104.29 08:49, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Possibly, but iz is already a precedent for such development. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 22:03, 3 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
