What did the Proto-Vietic term refer to?

What exactly did this Proto-Vietic term refer to, as the chili pepper was only brought to Vietnam from the Americas a few hundred years ago? 173.88.246.138 22:32, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

It certainly preferred to something else, but what was the original meaning is not known for certain. See dứa (“pineapple”), its meaning in the earlier stage was quite surely "pandanus" (which is now called dứa dại (“wild pineapple”)) instead.PhanAnh123 (talk) 15:27, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
