editFrom Medieval Latin Sabarici, genitive of the personal name Sabaricus,[1] from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from Proto-Germanic *Swēbarīks, from Proto-Germanic *swēbaz (“Suebi”) and *rīks (“king”).[2]
