Etymology edit
Sprang is first attested as spranc in 1331. Capelle is first attested as capella in 1257. Sprang is derived from (now dialectal) sprang (“spring of a brook or stream”). Capelle is derived from Middle Dutch capelle (“chapel”). Formerly two independent villages.
