Class 3 origin

Campbell (Old English Grammar) notes that forms like þungen are more indicative of Class 3. Ringe (The Development of Old English 2014) lists þēon as a 'Class 3 with contraction'. They posit a form *þiŋχan with the nasal lost in other Germanic languages but retained in Old English. Could somebody more expert than me sort out the 'facts' and, if they agree with Ringe, modify the entry? DavidCrosbie (talk) 14:12, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
