Etymology edit

If morphologically a derivation from ფოხ- (pox-, to crawl, to drag along) is acceptable, then we have solved the etymology. As I suspected, toad means "crawler" and is identical with the "crawling baby" sense. "Frogs use their long powerful legs to jump and hop around. Toads actually prefer to walk rather than hop.". So in the eyes of a human a toad is just a crawling frog. Vahag (talk) 21:01, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deriving from ფოხ- (pox-) seems possible, but I can't explain the suffix -ორო, -არა (-oro, -ara) not with my knowledge of the language at least. Vowel alteration seem to be caused by assimilation, but again I'm not sure. Gubazes (talk) 21:57, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
