yes. if 'ヶ' with other kanji, this 'ヶ' is read as "ka". such as "ヶ所"(kasho). although I think just a 'ヶ'(of counter) should be read as "ko". --Boldlyman 13:52, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please give a (good!) reference for the development of ヶ. Otherwise it is more likely that a small kana was used as a placeholder and that it is not a simplification ! ヵ suggests that as well.
