@RcAlex36: I think it depends on which part of China. Mahjong rules differ between different parts of China, and what you're probably familiar with as someone from Hong Kong is probably specifically Cantonese mahjong. But in any case, the Japanese reading for this term comes directly from Mandarin. It does not use the usual Japanese readings for those characters. The dog2 (talk) 05:37, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
