Talk:檮余

@Krun Hi, could you please provide the dictionary reference for the pronunciation of táo in 檮余? Kangxi Dictionary seems to suggest it is chóu (making the Old Chinese pronunciation of this word *dula). Wyang (talk) 23:17, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, I wasn’t sure about it, as I actually had trouble finding the pronunciation of the first character in the compound with certainty (I am also no good at reading fanqie pronunciation). I found the pronunciation táotú given at [1], but this might be an error. I don’t know what site that is, but the page seems to be some glossary of words from a particular historical text. It seems to me that basically all the extant dictionary definitions for this term are based on the Kangxi one, so the pronunciation you found there must be the right one (or the only available/reliable one). Thanks for looking into this. – Krun (talk) 00:25, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I'm not very convinced by the glossary page, and it would be good if the pronunciation can be backed up by a dictionary. I will change it to chóu for the moment. Wyang (talk) 01:17, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: I'm not sure, but táo may be valid as well. 司馬貞索隠:“檮余,音桃、徒二音。” — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:04, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Return to "檮余" page.
