"Tall gate"

edit

@Erminwin Just as a heads-up, while Guoyu Cidian defines 軒轅 as 高大的轅門 ("tall gate"), Hanyu Da Cidian defines 軒轅 as 車輈 ("vehicles"). RcAlex36 (talk) 03:50, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@RcAlex36 I interpret 車輈 as "vehicle/wagon/chariot's shaft"; admittedly, my Chinese proficiency is still very low, yet I'm not aware of 車輈 meaning "vehicle".
Nevertheless, following this diagram, 輈 and 轅 are synonyms and both denote the shaft, making it all the more likely that 高大的轅門 ("tall gate") sense is derived from the 車輈 sense. So again, thanks! Erminwin (talk) 22:12, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
