KharI. in CDIAL
edit@Bhagadatta, Svartava ๐จ๐จฑ๐จ๐จฃ๐จโ (ahunoโ) is preceded by KharI. in {{R:CDIAL}}
. Does KharI. refer to Gandhari inscriptions rather than Niya Prakrit? And would the extension be -๐๐- (-uka-) by analogy with Category:Terms extended with Indo-Aryan -๐๐๐ธ-? Kutchkutch (talk) 09:57, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- user:Kutchkutch -u is also in sanskrit (eg เคเคเฅเคเฅ - desiring). preceding perhaps implies 'both' as see https://dsal.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/app/soas_query.py?qs=รกแนลa&searchhws=yes Pa. Pk. aแนsa = pali and prakrit term เค เคเคธ. maybe, ahuno is an "MIA. form occurring in Corpus Inscriptionum Indicarum Vol. II Pt. 1" and a niya prakrit term . if you are sure that its only gandhari then it can be replaced but see https://dsal.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/app/soas_query.py?qs=KharI.+NiDoc that it can be a term for both. - @Svartava: Ignoring the language details, the primary distinction between Gandhari and Niya Prakrit appears to be the location of discovery. Gandhari may be assumed to be from Gandhara and surrounding areas while Niya Prakrit is from the Tarim Basin in China. The locations mentioned in 'Corpus Inscriptionum Indicarum Vol. II Pt. 1' are from Gandhara and surrounding areas and not from the Tarim Basin in China. Therefore, it seems that KharI. refers to Gandhari rather than Niya Prakrit.
- Regarding extensions, some are derived from Sanskrit and others were created in the MIA period. Since there is no comprehensive understanding about which extensions exist and which do not, please be careful with extensions.

- user:Kutchkutch methinks youre right about KharI. the niya term is also at https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.105166/page/n51/mode/2up?q=ahuno. no problem if -u is changed to -uka, it is also in sanskrit (eg. เคเคพเคฎเฅเค - going). gracias for your comment about my editing, im continually learning.
