Etymology

In Etymology of Proto-Celtic (2003), Ranko Matasović gives a different etymology than the one on this page — he traces it to *bʰodʰ-weh₂, which actually comports better with the reconstructed form *bodwā here than a metathesized relative fo *boudi; it also makes it a (formally, at least) perfect cognate to Proto-Germanic *badwō, and the entry for that word actually claims these are linked (Matasovíc 2003 and Kroonen 2013 both corroborate this link). wuduweard (talk) 05:46, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
