Can an actual etymology, explaining what 順化 actually means, be added to this entry? 76.189.141.37 19:28, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
With some research, it seems to be the case that Thuận Hóa (順化) was a patronizing name given to a conquered/subjugated land, in this case just wrested from the Chams. In comparison, Urumqi was given the name 迪化 (Dihua, "To enlighten") by the Chinese, and Hohhot was similarly given the name 歸化 (Guihua, "To return to civilization"). 順化 might translate to something like "becoming obedient." 76.189.141.37 03:27, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
