Moved from entry: In the UK, it is also used in the phonetic alphabet for VC. In the UK this is primarily used as an abbreviation for the Victoria Cross which is the highest award of the United Kingdom honours system. This is awarded for "... most conspicuous bravery, or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy."[1] If there are cites, add this as a sense; otherwise, it made no sense to mention it in the etymology(!) section. - -sche (discuss) 07:44, 22 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
