World Cup edit

It's a common noun, a world cup, it's just capitalized when used as part of a proper noun, like hall of fame > Baseball Hall of Fame. Keep World Cup as {{alternative capitalization of|world cup}} and use usage notes if necessary. Mglovesfun (talk) 16:22, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Support split, but note that "World Cup" (capitalized) in the US carries almost exclusively the meaning of FIFA World Cup for soccer, which it doesn't in other countries. When someone in the US says "World Cup", they mean soccer almost all the time, so there is a country-specific sense that ought to be retained at the capitalized page name under Proper noun. -EncycloPetey 03:58, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done, consensus. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:25, 18 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
