I've seen several sources that suggest the Greek akakia actually means "innocent", from: a not + kakia, kakos evil. Indeed, in Freemasonry, the acacia plant is a symbol of innocence. Kaldari 19:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you think of it as a kind of pun, it's OK. It is like using a pine tree to symbolize pining for one's absent lover. There are two Greek words with the same spelling, one refers to an Egyptian tree, the other to "guilelessness". DCDuring TALK 16:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
