Etymology in English: from Dutch?

UK television show The Chase claimed that the origin of the word is Dutch, meaning "crazy gull" (or similar). Is there any plausible basis for that? I ask, because the existing entry says the etymology is uncertain. —DIV (1.145.28.206 05:40, 21 July 2022 (UTC))
