Rfv-sense Armed groups encircled by enemies. In Russian military doctrine a large, strategic level concentration of trapped enemies, distinguished from the smaller sacks and nests.

Cited but I changed the definition to simply "A strategic encirclement", firstly because it refers to the encirclement itself rather than the troops within it, secondly because the term apparently originates in German, not Russian, military doctrine, and I couldn't find a reliable source for the cauldron/sack/nest distinction as representing terms of art. —Al-Muqanna المقنع (talk) 15:49, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
