The English title of Cuneus Prophetarum

edit

To my best knowledge, Latin cuneus is little more than English wedge. On what grounds then can Cuneus Prophetarum be normally translated into The Band of the Prophets? -- w:Talk:Pjetër Bogdani#The English title of Cuneus Prophetarum --KYPark 12:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I believe that cuneus is sometimes used for a wedge-shaped body of people, especially a battalion of soldiers. SemperBlotto 12:14, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • No doubt, cuneus can apply to either wedge or wedge-shaped things. The battalion should take any shape, whereas individual prophets should not. Even if the prophets should and the battalion should always take wedge shape, at least a doubt remains why it should be "The Band" rather than "Battalion." Thank you for yor answer. Yet it's hard for me to imagine a number of prophets in a wedge-shaped formation, perhaps due to my poor imagination. --KYPark 16:19, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
