- The non-offensive word seems to simply be "deaf", since the "mute" part is related to the difficulty in learning speech (or lack of desire to speak), rather than actual muteness. Andrew Sheedy (talk) 20:58, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, nearly all deaf people are physically capable of speech. If they don't speak, it is nearly always because they don't know how to speak or they choose not to speak rather than them being physically incapable of speech. 2600:1006:B193:A9D9:0:3D:2E6E:4C01 23:31, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
