Talk:englischer Gruß

Is this really Roman Catholicism? The prayer is usually called Ave Maria or Gegrüßet seist du Maria. I've only once in my life come by the term "Englischer Gruß", and that was in the writings of Martin Luther. I'm not sure, though. --- And is it actually the same as Ave Maria at all? I think the "Englischer Gruß" is the words of the angel addressing Mary, upon which the Catholic prayer is based, but with which it is not identical.

I think it refers both to the words of Gabriel to Mary at the Annunciation, in which case it isn't just RC, and to the Ave Maria prayer, in which case it is pretty much only RC, at least in the German-speaking world. (Do Old Catholics normally say the Ave Maria? Do they regularly say the Rosary? I don't know.)
