An inequality is the same as an inequation? edit

This just blew my mind. I've been taught that they're different. An example of an inequality would be x<y; you don't really care what specific values x and y hold. An example of an inequality would be x<2; you do care the values x could hold, which range from minus infinity to somewhere to the left of 2. You prove an inequality, to see if it's correct or not, to see if the signs <, >, etc. are placed properly; but you solve an equation, to find the possible values of the variable. We use different terms for these two in Vietnamese, and I'm hesitant to add the term for "inequation" to the translations section of the entry "inequality". ばかFumikotalk 03:34, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
