Definitions (clarity)
edit2. (transitive) To interrupt a conversation by introducing a different subject or making a comment. 4. (intransitive) To intervene in a dispute, or in a conversation.
Current definitions are not very different. I see only that the meaning (2) is a particular / special case of the meaning (4). So, the definitions should be altered to show the difference, or examples which show the difference should be added. -- Andrew Krizhanovsky 09:51, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

- (chess): to defend the king, to defend some figure
