This "idiom" probably belongs in Wikiquote. At least we could try to date the original Steve Jobs quote, but it ain't easy, like many quotes by famous people Roger the Rodger (talk) 23:28, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Noah Wyle, portraying Jobs, speaks these words in the 1999 TV Movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. Is there any evidence the real Jobs uttered this? The term is referenced in a retrospective interview on the occasion of the Mac’s 10th birthday with some of the key players in its development and said to have been vowed, but does not identify the original utterer.  --Lambiam 11:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
This article discusses the Steve Jobs quote. It is not clear whether he actually said the quote that is attributed to him, or merely something similar. Kiwima (talk) 05:28, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
There is a 1988 use here, not ostensibly signifying bringing about “a revolutionary change that benefits mankind”.  --Lambiam 11:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
