Talk:referer

Extended edit note: The term "referer" is used outside of the code itself; it is now the proper term for the referring HTML page or URL. It originated from a mis-spelling, now a proper term in the field. These things happen. Robert Ullmann 00:38, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you show, from some formal technical document, that referer is now the proper term? Equinox 00:48, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
DCDuring has provided some citations. But a simple glance at the WP page linked would have shown the same. The technical term is "referer" (and a proxy that hides the referer is a dereferer ;-). Some docs do use the "normal" spelling, but it can almost be argued at this point that they are incorrect! Robert Ullmann 08:06, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kept. See archived discussion of November 2008. 07:02, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Return to "referer" page.
