Etymology

I think this may be related to a line in Truyện Kiều, hence accounting for its seemingly strange compounding pattern:

Hai bên mười vị tướng quân,
Đặt gươm cởi giáp trước sân khấu đầu.

Before Kieu were two lines of ten generals,
With shields and swords undone kowtowing on ground.
