Hi!
Please notice that the word spudger is in list of descendants of spud, whereas etymology section states it descends from spuddle. IMHO the both cannot be correct.
I also think that the spud here seems to be more correct because one of the meanings of spud is to peel the bark off the trees. There's also a kind of knife called spudder or just spud that is used for that purpose.
A far as I see it is very likely that all theese words (spuddle, spud, spudder and spudger) have the same origin. I also noticed that a spudger is sometimes called with a word sprudger (maybe by mistake?).
Maybe someone will correct this, and it will be fine, because I'm not going to do so unless I have enough experience.
