This template automatically provides the title and table for the declension of regular Slovene nouns. If the noun is irregular or has additional forms, these have to be entered manually and in some cases, also some regular forms (in the latter case, the template returns form needed instead of the form on the preview.

Parameters

Stem with acute accent (á).
2=
Stem with both accents (ā).

Stem with circumflex accent (ȃ).

Gender of the noun (m–masculine, f–feminine, n–neuter)
declension type=
The declension of the gender (1–first, 2–second, 3–third (no endings), 4–fourth (adjectival endings))
subtype?=
The subtype of the declension type (s–soft, h–hard (default), v–v-stem first feminine declension, r–r-stem first feminine declension)
accent=
  • accent=1 – fixed accent (on the same vowel) e. g. nȉt nȋti
  • accent=2 – mobile accent (between two vowels on the stem) e. g. zíbel zibẹ̑li
  • accent=3a – short ending accent (on the ending or fill vowel) e. g. dəbə̏r dəbrȉ, pə̏s psȁ
  • accent=3b – long ending accent (on the ending or fill vowel) e. g. gospá gospẹ́, ravȃn ravnȋ
  • accent=4a – short mixed accent (switching between stem and ending) e. g. də̏ž dəžjȁ
  • accent=4b – long mixed accent (switching between stem and ending) e. g. stvȃr stvarȋ, senọ̑ senȃ

Important: First neuter declension has many variations with the accent. Words that end in nominative singular with -ce – are diminuitives (e. g. jajce, črevce), in nominative plural with -ča (e. g. pljuča) or consonant cluster with r + a (e. g. rebra), are pluralia tantum, lose the infix in the plural or have an open-mid vowel have different accent changes that are unaccounted for and have to be entered manually.   • stemaccent=a – acute
  • stemaccent=b – both
  • stemaccent=c – circumflex
n=
Number in which the declension occurs:
  • n=sg – singular
  • n=du – dual
  • n=pl – plural
infix=
If the noun has an infix, list it here. It should be listed as the letter only, e. g. j, n, t etc.
title=
Used to generate the heading. Type title=no if it is not the first table under the same heading.
above=
What is written above the table. Should start with an asterisk (*) and be followed by a qualifier.
below=
What is written below the table. This includes further explanations about the forms or examples.
irregtitle=, irregtitle2=, irregtitle3=, irregtitle=4, irregtitle=5
Used to describe the irregularities. If the same irregularity is more common, it can be generated automatically by writing gender–declension type–case and number/number (if applies to more cases)/type e. g. irregtitle=m1gensg would yield ending -u in genitive singular [[Category:Slovene masculine o-stem nouns with ending -u in nominative singular]]; other possibilities include:
  • irregtitle=m1nomsg – ending in nominative singular
  • irregtitle=m1gensg – ending -u in genitive singular
  • irregtitle=m1fill – fill vowel {{{fill}}}
  • irregtitle=m1genpl – null ending in genitive dual/plural
  • irregtitle=m1pl – special endings in plural from former i-stem declension
  • irregtitle=m1nompl – ending -je in nominative plural
  • irregtitle=m1acc – special accent changes
  • irregtitle=m2fill – fill vowel {{{fill}}}
  • irregtitle=f1nomsg – irregular nominative singular
  • irregtitle=f1genpl – ending -a in genitive dual/plural
  • irregtitle=f1fill – fill vowel {{{fill}}}
  • irregtitle=f1j – ending -j in genitive dual/plural

fill=
Fill vowel, if the word has it. By default ə. Forms with fill vowel have to be entered manually.
animate?=
Used for masculine nouns to determine animacy.
  • animate?=in – inanimate
  • animate?=an – animate
lastsyllable?=
Used for fixed-accented feminine nouns following the second declension. Type lastsyllable?=yes if the accent is on the last syllable.
c→a?=
Type c→a?=yes if the accent turns from circumflex in nominative singular to acute. The nominative singular form might still be required to enter manually.
openmid?=
Type openmid?=yes if the noun has accent on open-mid vowel. It does not account for changes in first neuter declension. These have to be entered manually.
