Feel free to revert my change here. My experiment makes the links look much nicer, but perhaps harder to cut-n-paste. --Connel MacKenzie T C 21:51, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

These things look ugly with my CSS customizations to links. And I made the template. :-). — Vildricianus 21:54, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sounds like a css problem to me.  :-) --Connel MacKenzie T C 21:58, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

lowercase first char?

edit

On Wikipedia, it doesn't much matter, but here we are case-sensitive. Shouldn't we have {{lcfirst:{{{1}}}}} in there? --Connel MacKenzie T C 21:57, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

foreach

edit

Had allowed the display of parameters using {{foreach}} and then through repetition due to the template's infamacy. Now added :subst: to replace {{temps}} functionality. Davilla 21:50, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Had replaced foreach with unraveled iterations in the code a while back and didn't mention it here. DAVilla 15:26, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

talk about talk?

edit

Should this direct people to the talk page of the template, since we are now changing everything around to be on talk pages only, right? --Connel MacKenzie T C 19:35, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think that would be a good thing. Hopefully more clicks on {{temp}} links are to learn about or talk about a template than to edit it. :-) Rod (A. Smith) 03:31, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
If we made it dependent on the existance of the talk page, it probably wouldn't be too disruptive. Otherwise you'd get a lot of red links. Is a good idea. Robert Ullmann 13:17, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
works this way now. Robert Ullmann 14:01, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template tlx

edit

There is an interproject template b:Template:Tlx at Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and other wikiprojects playing the same role as this template temp. --Daniel Polansky 07:37, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed documentation change.

edit

It seems like this template is needlessly complicated, and we suggest needlessly complicated workarounds for things that, for technical reasons, it can't handle. I think the documentation should emphasize two notations:

  • {{temp|etyl:hbo}}
  • {{temp|projectlink|<nowiki>pedia|lang=he|sc=Hebr</nowiki>}}

plus a few of the additional parameters needed for subst:, non-template-space, and sister-project support.

I don't think it's feasible to change existing uses of the template, so we do need to retain the template complexity; and that means that we do need to retain the current documentation somewhere so that people editing the template know what cases need to still work, but I don't think we should give it the undue emphasis we currently do.

What do y'all think?

Non-breaking hyphen

edit

Ideally hyphens in template names should be replaced by non-breakable variants (, U+2011). – Jberkel 09:10, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Return to "temp" page.
