Dutch edit

Etymology edit

First attested as hulenstroten in 1335. Potentially a compound of Middle Dutch Ulo (a personal name) or ule (owl) and the plural form of straat (street). An alternative explanation interprets the toponym as a compound of ool (land next to water, humid low-lying land) and stroet (wetland overgrown with brushwood).
