I'm a linguist, both in the sense that I've studied linguistics, and I've studied some languages. I'm particularly interested in writing systems, etymology and historical linguistics and sociolinguistics.
I'm familiar with most writing systems in current use, and many that were used in the past. The writing systems I feel most comfortable reading are Latin, Cyrillic, Japanese scripts, and Chinese scripts (simplified and traditional characters, and bopomofo).
