Unknown; possibly borrowed from a substrate language,[1] compare Proto-Turkic *sarïmsak (“garlic”), Komi-Zyrian комидз (komidź, “leek”), Udmurt кумуз (kumuz), кумыз (kumyz, “garlic”).
