Redirects

edit

Can you please stop making redirects from the strange characters for a moment and read WT:Redirections? There are specific guidelines for when you should and should not make redirects in the mainspace. TeleComNasSprVen 05:25, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've started reading the guidelines, and they seem to be written without CJK in mind. Also, there were already several redirects, leading me to believe that it would be a good idea to finish the work that someone else started. AJRobbins 05:44, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see. I'm not entirely familiar with CJKV script myself, despite my (somewhat) Asian background, but it does say that "an entry in [one] script should never redirect to another in a different script." But don't worry, these things happen often; I've made a few myself, apparently. TeleComNasSprVen 05:53, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you could fix a few of these by changing the entries to {{alternative form of}} or something similar; I’m afraid I can’t double-check the entry since I can’t read the script, and neither does my Chrome browser, which displays it as an RTL box. TeleComNasSprVen 06:00, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suppose I could, but the problem is in Appendix:Unicode/Kangxi_Radicals Unicode block, which are supposed to be used when discussing radicals, or when a distinction needs to be made between radicals and characters, but Wiktionary uses the character form exclusively, even when discussing radicals. The problem is that the radical forms have exactly the same glyph as the character forms, and so it can be very confusing looking that glyph up if you are copying from a source which uses the radical form. The more I think about it, the more confused I get, because anything that can be said about the characters is really being said about the glyphs, which are identical.
