Template:bot

edit

Hi! You can't have a template "bot", it is the language code for Bongo (Sudan). Something else is fine (user-bot, whatever).

What is the bot for? Robert Ullmann 13:41, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's for use on bots' userpages, such as User:MiszaBot and is an almost exact copy of w:Template:Bot. How come this wasn't an issue on many other wikis? Миша13 13:48, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
As you just noted, case matters. The 'pedias aren't going to have a problem because it can only be "Bot"; most wiktionaries won't notice until they get around to a lot of small languages (en.wikt has a lot more than most, 500 and counting). You could make it upper case Bot; we don't use the upper case names much. OTOH, you could just subst: it ... Robert Ullmann 13:52, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I moved it to template:user bot, so you can delete the old one. Миша13 14:12, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I changed it to the language template ;-) Robert Ullmann 14:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, can you tell me where to get the py source with that function? ;-) Robert Ullmann 16:45, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is available in pywikipedia, in the userlib.py module, a method of the User class. Миша13 17:44, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
