Wiktionary:Character variations

This is a Wiktionary policy, guideline or common practices page. Specifically it is a policy think tank, working to develop a formal policy.

Some entries for single characters are redirected because they are an alternate typography, appearance or simply the same character under a different codepoint. Usually, in the main entry, multiple character boxes ({{character info}}) to account for the separate codepoints.

Approved redirected characters edit

Halfwidth and fullwidth characters are redirected to their normal counterparts.^[1]
Some codepoints for specific digraphs are redirected to their two-character versions:
Ĳ, ĳ, Ǆ, ǅ, ǆ, Ǉ, ǈ, ǉ, Ǌ, ǋ, ǌ, Ǳ, ǲ, ǳ.^[2]
Combining characters in the category "nonspacing mark" (Mn) are redirected to their non-combining versions when possible.^[3]
