Task: making a few harmless template-related changes, such as {{Wikipedia}} -> {{wikipedia}} (like this), {{See}} -> {{see}}, subst:'ing {{welcome}} and the odd language template when necessary.

  1. Perhaps this should just be done under a user account, without the 'bot flag? There aren't that many, are there? --Connel MacKenzie 20:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC) It's called a sense of humor, I'm told. I've read all about it, but apparently missing part of the concept.  :-)   --Connel MacKenzie 21:13, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    Hrmmmmrmrmrmrggg. :-). I don't mind doing them unhidden. Others may. — Vildricianus 21:10, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it. People that routinely monitor Special:Recentchanges know to click "hide minor edits" during a blitz of 'bot-minor-marked entries. Perhaps Rod could comment, regarding the afects on anon-ip patrolling. --Connel MacKenzie 13:44, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just reviewed the current mediawiki code base and confirmed that there is a fixed 5K upper limit to the number of entries in the recentchanges table. Thus, even if a bot has its bot flag turned on, if it makes a significant number (e.g. 3K) of changes, it impacts my anon review. (I really need to stop relying on the recentchanges table and start using a local list from the irc changes feed.) So, so long as your bot acount is logged in, it doesn't matter to me whether it has the bot flag set. Just let me know a day or so in advance if it's going to make more than 2K edits or so. Rod (A. Since both Paul and Jhs are testing my patience, I'll test yours as well :-). — Vildricianus 17:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Can we group these requests together, somewhere? Maybe a sub-page, since they've all been vetted and passed unanimously? --Connel MacKenzie 19:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a good moment to consider Wiktionary:Requests for bot flags. In the meanwhile, I'm posting at User talk:Dvortygirl. — Vildricianus 19:47, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
