carcinoma n (oncology)

(countable) An invasive malignant tumour derived from epithelial tissue that tends to metastasize to other areas of the body. (obsolete, countable) A form of cancer; (uncountable) cancer in general as a disease. Today is World Cancer Day, which is recognized by the United Nations to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
