afret
Northern Kurdish
editEtymology
editFrom Arabic عَوْرَات (ʕawrāt), plural of عَوْرَة (ʕawra, “pudendum, genitals”), derived from the root ع و ر (ʕ w r). But the sound change is irregular, *ewrat would be expected instead. Perhaps related to afirandin instead or connected to it by folk etymology. Compare Turkish avrat.
