Possibly from Proto-Central Chadic *hakʷ (fire),[1] from Proto-Chadic *-kw. Cognate with Uldeme àkù, Zulgo-Gemzek akwá, Mbuko ūkō, Warji kəwai, Duwai ā̀kà, Ngizim akâ, Miya ákú.
