Etymology edit
From Proto-Finnic *ammo-, probably from Proto-Uralic *amme (“old, previous”) + -oin.[1][2] Cognate with Hungarian ó (“ancient, in previous”), Estonian ammu (“once upon a time, long ago”), Northern Sami oames (“past, old”) and Erzya умок (umok, “a long time ago”).
