astral spirit (plural astral spirits)

  1. One of numerous beings formerly believed to live among the heavenly bodies, variously seen as fallen angels or the spirits of dead men.

      At an abstruse philosophical level the possibility was kept alive by the occult theories of the Neoplatonists, Paracelsians and Behmenists, who believed in astral spirits which lingered on after the body had decayed.
