avoér

(Redirected from avoèr)

Picard edit

Etymology edit

From Old French avoir, from Latin habere, present active infinitive of habeo.

Verb edit

avoér

  1. to have
Il o unne voèture fort bèle !
    He has a beautiful car!
  2. (auxiliary) to have (auxiliary verb to form compound past tenses of all verbs)
    J'ai acatè unne vake.
    I have bought one cow.

Usage notes edit

Unlike standard French, Picard has extended the use of avoèr as an auxiliary verb to all verbs, replacing the use of ète in reflexive and movement verbs. However, and due to the influence of standard French, you may see il est sorti ("he has come out") or il s'est foait ("he has done himself") instead of normal Picard syntax il o sorti and il s'o foait.
