  1. Obsolete form of kaffir. [17th–19th c.]
    • 1808–10, William Hickey, Memoirs of a Georgian Rake, Folio Society 1995, p. 165:
      A boat, with only caffres in her, having fruit to sell, came off, and we purchased pines, oranges, plantains, guavas, star apples, etc.
