Borrowed from translingual Kalanchoe, from New Latin Kalanchauhuy as recorded by Georg Joseph Kamel, from a Sinitic source akin to Cantonese 伽藍菜/伽蓝菜 (gaa1 laam4 coi3, literally “temple plant”).
