Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 臘 (“the 12th month of the lunar year”, SV: lạp).
The same development of the initial can also be seen with chàng & possibly also chuồng (if the latter were indeed an early Chinese loan according to Alves, 2018).
