chorizont (plural chorizonts)

  1. (UK) One who challenges a widely held assumption of authorship for a major work, especially one who believes that the Iliad and the Odyssey were not written by Homer.
    • 1938, Samuel Eliot Bassett, The Poetry of Homer - Volume 15, page 137:
      This passage was used by van Leeuwen as evidence in his argument for different authorship of the Odyssey. Since this argument is given much weight by the chorizont Wilhelm Schmid, let us quote it in full:

      It is strange that in a matter of such vital importance we should have to say “ seems ”; but it is a fact that we have carefully searched 'Homer and the Epic,' and yet failed to make out whether Mr. Lang is a chorizont or no.
