  1. (biochemistry) Any of a class of cyclic oligosaccharides consisting of glucopyranose residues linked as in amylose; cycloamylose.

  • They are named using a lowercase Greek letter as prefix, α- meaning six sugar residues, β- meaning seven and so on.
  • The IUPAC names are of the form cyclomaltohexaose, cyclomaltoheptaose etc.
