Etymology

Derived from Proto-Arawa *'dako(rija) (lake), with an unknown second element. This second element, *fuá, may be related to the second element of chirifuá (turtle), possibly deriving from Proto-Arawa *raphowa (to swell, to overflow) (cf. Jarawara dialect of Jamamadí fowa).
